Project Summary

This compact yet diverse and challenging playground pays homage to Mr. Jesse Owens – the great American Olympian who won four gold medals at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin. Mr. Owens is still considered one of the worlds greatest athletes. The playground has images of Mr. Owens, track themed play events and spectacular “track” graphics depicted in the unitary rubber fall surfacing. The City of Los Angeles Recreation and Parks Department is focused on providing protection from UV rays for the children using this playground, thus the use of extensive “integrated shade” on this play equipment.
